[FOR SALE] Morphers, Rider Belts, DX Lockseeds, Wizard Rings, Astro Switches, Robots and more!

I'm trimming down my collection of Sentai and Rider toys!

So I've moved out of the USA, so instead of letting my toy collection gather dust at my folk's home, I figured it'd be good to sell off my extra toys. I'm going back home for a week on October 20 or so to take care of some final stuff, so that's when I'll be shipping everything out.

The reason why I've posted this ad early is because sometimes things might take some time to sell, and I'd like to have everything finalized before I arrive so that I can concentrate on shipping everything out. As such, I will be prioritizing those who can send me funds through Paypal the soonest. Unless otherwise indicated, prices are before shipping. I believe I've priced these fairly, but feel free to send reasonable offers if you're interested, worst I can do is say no thanks :)

[POWER RANGERS] Academic research on Super Sentai and Power Rangers

I'm really trying to do some research into the cultural and historical impacts of both Super Sentai and Power Rangers. However, I keep running into a brick wall.

All the articles I find about Power Rangers are from 1993 to 1995 and only reference the violence of the show. Most articles don't even mention the fact that it is based off of a Japanese TV show. The only book about Power Rangers is the "Truth" About Power Rangers book that only talks about how Power Rangers is training children to be Satan worshipers. Beyond that, even with the help of my librarian, I can't find any academic articles, papers, or books discussing Power Rangers.

I have spoken to three of my professors in Japanese studies here at school. One is a Japanese woman who knows nothing about Sentai. :facepalm2: The other is a professor who knows nothing of Super Sentai and when I discuss it with him, he thinks it is below him and academic study (he has the same feelings on Godzilla, yet Akira is not below academic study). My last professor is aware of it but knows nothing. He says he has a Japanese pop culture book where it has citations from primary sources and may help me. The ONLY reference he found was about Power Rangers, and there is no citation.

:eusa_wall

I find it extremely frustrating to have all of these great resources and yet still not find anything about Sentai or Power Rangers that is beyond "they were violent". Even more frustrating is trying to talk to Japanese people about Super Sentai for The Onyx Tavern. I was in Kyoto for five weeks and every Japanese that I spoke there either never heard of it or said that their baby brother watched it. And this was me asking tons of people while at the school and in the city. Even showing them the title in Katakana and Kanji didn't help. I'm even trying to talk to the Japanese community here at my school and I am getting the same responses, either they never heard of it or their younger siblings watch it.

So I don't know guys. Has anyone else attempted to do any research on Sentai or Power Rangers and have been able to uncover more than I have? I mean one show has been on close to 40 years and the other has been on for 21, why is it so hard to find any academic research or sources that don't look at it as something corrupting the youth? I just don't get it. Can anyone point me into the direction of SOMETHING useful?

(And no, this is not "Homework help" this is for my own personal befit and for future episodes of The Onyx Tavern)

[INTEREST SALE] Kamen Rider Kabuto S.H. Figurart

Hi guys I have been downsizing my Kamen Rider collection to just my Kamen Rider OOOs toys, a half dozen S.I.C.K.T.s and a few other nicknacks. There is still one figure that I would like to get rid of, a S.H. Figuart Kamen Rider Kabuto first run. The figure is complete and in great condition, however I throw out the box a couple of years ago. So would anyone be interested in this? I am not looking for a lot so if you are interested shot me a reasonable offer and we can talk turkey.

[MOVIE] tetris the movie

http://ift.tt/1v52BX7

i once made a topic about games that should never be a movie and i said tetris and it was a joke how ever i had no idea that 8 years later it would be a very serious possibility

The popular ’80s computer game — which has sold an astonishing 170 million copies since in release in 1984 — is heading to the big screen. According to a Wall Street Journal story, a deal has been struck between Threshold Entertainment and the Tetris Company to develop a live-action version of the puzzle game in which players control a maddening series of blocks that cascade down the screen.

The project lacks a director and cast, but — despite what you might be wondering — there is indeed a story. (Keep your curiosity in check: No details were revealed just yet.) “This isn’t a movie with a bunch of lines running around the page,” Threshold CEO Larry Kasanoff told the Speakeasy blog. “We’re not giving feet to the geometric shapes.”

Kasanoff is no stranger to game-to-movie adaptations: He was one of the producers of 1995’s Mortal Kombat and its 1997 sequel Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, which grossed $70 million and $35 million, respectively. Recent big-screen adaptation of video games include the 2008’s Max Payne, the 2010 bomb Prince of Persia (see the trailer below), this year’s Need for Speed, and the Resident Evil films. In the works right now are a fantasy epic based on the MMORPG Warcraft, and 3D animated version of Angry Birds.

The Threshold exec has rather grand plans for his block-busting property — he imagines creating experiences that go beyond the multiplex. Said Kasanoff: “What you [will] see in ‘Tetris’ is the teeny tip of an iceberg that has intergalactic significance.”

Please do not complain about what things someone has purchased. It's lame to hear you post your hauls and then moan because someone else bought something in multiples or you think they are hoarding. If you want it so bad, save up for it and get it! :P

Do not attempt to resell your hauls here. That is what the Marketplace Forum is for. Create a new sales thread, or update an existing sales thread and sell them in there please.

Please keep images 800 pixels in width.

What you can't/shouldn't post here

  • Sexually/graphically explicit "hauls"

  • Groceries

    • shipping supplies

    • frequently purchased custom supplies

    • household items

  • Drugs/alcohol, anything of an illegal nature

  • Awards

  • Your "awaiting/just purchased" lists (It's not a haul until you get it!)

While this thread is not specific to Power Rangers, Sentai, Kamen Rider related merchandise, at the end of the day it is still supposed to be centered around the merchandise you buy for your collection. A new morpher, the latest comic book series you are reading, and even a new car you just purchased... stuff like that is fine.

Tape for when you ship packages, the same tube of bondo you have used on some of your customs for the last year, or an award for straight A's at school are not really what this thread is for.

That's it guys, have fun!

A new month calls for a new Hauls Thread. Can you believe that it's October already? That's pretty crazy. I expect to see lots of Halloween costume parts. It'll be here before we know it.

Oh, and your reminder that Christmas will be here in just 84 days AKA 12 weeks, so don't spend too much. You need spend all that money on gifts for me. ;)
