I've just finished watched Power Rangers in Space fully, for the first time since it originally aired.
It was still an amazing series, and I'm glad my memory of it being great lived up to the expectation.
One thing struck out horrendously for me though - where was Zhane!
Ok, so I know the story, he's in deep freeze, he thaws, he fights alongside the rangers, he briefly obsesses over Astronoma, he randomly stays with the K035 rebels, he comes back to the Rangers but then he's - just never around.
He will sometimes fleetingly show up in the Mega Winger, like he's been added in post production, but you won't see him unmorphed all episode. He's barely even glanced on the megaship and I think during that whole 7 or 8 part Psycho Rangers saga, he sticks his oar in maybe two or three episodes.
It was maddening. Even Astronoma refers to "all 5 rangers" at one point and I thought, 'IT'S THIRTY-SOMETHING EPISODES IN; YOU KNOW THERE ARE 6!'
Does anyone know the story behind why this sixth ranger is even more absentee than most? Considering Darkonda's claim early on that he's the strongest ranger in the universe, you'd have thought they'd have backed it up a bit.
