[OT] Are We As Members of the Human Race Getting Too Spoiled with Nostalgia?

It's a question that I've been asking myself lately though. I mean, I've been thinking back at most of the stuff that I grew up with as a kid and I didn't know how certain franchises can easily so popular over the years. But, then we hear about a movie adaptation that's based on a popular franchise, whether it's video games, original and recent cartoons, toys, comic books, etc. I mean, I get that certain people who grew up with the source material are expecting to see an adequate movie adaptation that follows the story of the original, but then they all of a sudden get mad because it doesn't exceed their expectations as fans but seems to entertain a few people who don't know much about the source material until later on. I mean it's probably because of a generation gap or something like that. But anyways, my point is when it comes to like movie adaptations based on popular franchises, or well-known franchises, are we as members of the human race, literally too spoiled with nostalgia? Or are we just like telling ourselves that we should say, "F*#k it!!! I just don't care for anything anymore?"

What do you guys think?
