As these things go, 300 pages of discussion is the board's general rule of thumb for an end limit and it had just mostly ended it's active discussion.
So now take advantage of a fresh start and perhaps take part in a task I have for each of you. In the interest of sharing with others, if some of you could take the time to look back and think of a particular comic book run or a series you enjoyed in the past and write a review for it. Sell us on it, tell us why it was enjoyable or interesting or worth experiencing for those that haven't yet.
This can be a particular run of a series like the Mark Waid run on Flash vol. 2, a self-contained story such as Laika: Nick Abadzis, a series of newspaper strips such as the Phantom, perhaps an old favourite in volumes that read right to left like Astro Boy, or even a web comic that you keep up with weekly such as Manly Guys Doing Manly Things. If it's a type of comic, no matter the nation it comes from or art style or distribution medium, tis fine to talk about in here and it would be nice to have some thoughts on the past others might have missed between the deluge of new content every week.
Have fun with it, and remember we don't have to like every comic, every version of a hero, and our past doesn't change or become ruined just because a new or different version comes out. If someone enjoys the current Miguel O'Hara from 2099 Spider-Man that is currently in comics, it doesn't matter that this is a different and unique version from the one I fell in love with in Spider-Man 2099 comic book nor does it erase that comic from existing and me re-reading it whenever I want. It's a form of entertainment, sometimes education and/or enlightenment, so make do with that and let's go forth enjoying our comics.
Also please do be courteous and respect the fact not everyone reads spoilers or advance summaries or picks up issues day one. Respect the fact that some people may not have read a past series and are discovering it for the first time. So in that spirit of community, I ask (not demand) people to use spoiler tags for anything that just came out that week and if you see someone talking about reading a series for the first time, let them discover it on their own unless they display the fact they are okay with being spoiled.
The spoil tag is a simple [spoiler] and [ / spoiler] code without the spaces, and can be done automatically in Advance Reply clicking the
button. If you don't want to use spoiler tags, one can be vague enough without giving everything away while still having plenty of room to discuss things until it's open for all to see.
