[OT] How do you get in contact to interview?

So as many of you may know, I have been trying to get a hold of Saban Brands to conduct an interview for my podcast with one of the writers from Samurai. It has been 3 months, more or less, since I sent my original request(s). Today they finally responded. To sum up their response; they will not provide me with contact information for the writers nor will they provide the writers with my contact information. It seems that they won't let me contact them or let them know to contact me. So I'm stuck.

I know many of you have done interviews with directors, producers, actors, and writers in the past. Is this typical of trying to interview people? If it is, then what do you do to get a hold of them if the company they work for will not allow you to get in contact of them? If this is not typical, then what do I need to be doing? I didn't think there was a magic trick to interviewing someone, especially if you write to them and want to conduct an actual interview. One of the things that they tell us is in film school is that as long as your nice and honest about it, people like talking to you about their work.

So what am I doing wrong? Anyone have a similar experience? What should I be doing now? Advice? Suggestions?
