This is something I've been thinking about. In Power Rangers are there any messages, morals, or whatever you like to call them, that you dislike? Now, I don't mean ones that are reused too much or are too basic/obvious like team work is super!!!111 and sort of talk down to the audience. I mean things you actually disagree with for whatever reason.
I have a few that come to mind that have bothered me.
The first one is from the first movie. Towards the end of the movie when Zordon is dead/on the brink of death (I can't remember which it was) the rangers put their hands together, and basically bring him back just from "believing" and because anything is possible. I have issues with this. Anything isn't possible. This to me teaches to kids that if a loved one is sick or dying you can just make it all go away, if you just believe in it or wish for it enough. I know it's a movie but it's just something that always bugs me.
I think a better message is from Dumledore in the first Harry Potter book/movie: It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.
I'm not saying they should just try and teach kids to just give up, but at the same time I think it's better for them to focus on things they can actually control, and some things are just out of their hands.
I wouldn't really call this a message, but it's something that happens in actually one of my top 5 Ranger episodes and it just always bothered me. It was my only major issue with this episode.
In COTD after Zordon's energy tube breaks Rita, Zedd, and Divatox are all turned good. Now with Astronema/Karone I didn't have as much issue with it because she had showed many signs of being good before this happened. If I'm remembering correctly she actually was good at one point until that robot device thing was put on her forehead which brainwashed her. But Zedd, Rita, and Divatox were pretty much portrayed as just evil. My issue with it is that they were basically forced good, which to me just doesn't really mean much. I just would prefer something where they actually show some remorse or regret for the things they've done more along the lines of Ransik. They never made an actual decision to be good, or at least from what it appears. I mean, I wouldn't consider Tommy in Green with Evil actually truly evil because he had a spell on him. And I think the same way about characters who are just turned good.
