To recap, i hurt my neck in 2013, couldn't move it for a solid 2 months, went through PT, an ESI of the cervical c6-c7, chiro, deep tissue massage with tens, lidocaine patches and 1 Trigger Point Injection. i kept telling my PM DR the pain was in the thoracic spine/ trap muscle is why i couldn't move my neck as the pain was felt there, i kept getting the response from him it is "referred pain" from my DDD and herniation at the c6-c7 lvl. So after dealing with the pain and taking pain meds that barely took the edge off, WC finally approved more TPI's and a home tens unit. The 1st time i was given a trigger point injection was one shot just lidocaine into my upper Trap muscle and did nothing. 4 days ago i saw my Dr. and asked me if i wanted to try the trigger point inj's again, being in so much pain i figured it couldn't make things any worse, i pointed to 7 spots along my trap muscles within 5 mins 99% of the pain was ALL GONE!! going on 5 days now weaning myself off the pain meds! I cannot believe this! I haven't been this happy since i got injured :) there are still a couple of spots left he needs to hit on my next visit. Anyone have good luck with these as well? How long should these trigger point injections last? I'm not interested in having cortisone with these, as they break down muscle tissue and not good for bones ect.. While im sure its not a permanent cure for it, im thankful and have a MRI of my thoracic spine scheduled as i think the refereed pain in the trap is coming from there. thanks for listening and any input on how long the TPI's should last ^^
Update on my last post :)
