Apparently it's not enough to just watch a television show and get enjoyment out of it. I need to post about it. So, I'll be doing an episodic recap of Time Force.
(I wanted Lightspeed Rescue, but DigificWriter took that one. :))
Why Time Force?
- never seen it
- in commemoration of my 9th year on RangerBoard, I felt the 9th season of the show was appropriate
- no one else has
- people seem to gush over it
- it's a Judd season; seems timely
---
Force from the Future: Part 1
- Despite what you may think, this episode isn't about Sam.
- Do these guys realize that they'll be essentially unemployed if they catch Ransik? I mean, he is the last criminal and all...
- And there's the incredibly misleading opening credit roll. I also have to admit, I never liked the theme song. It just seemed too "shouty" for my tastes.
- I have to admit that while Ransik is pretty hammy, I like that he's willing to get his hands dirty immediately.
- How does he get the Femur Saber back in?
- "The judges' council is still in chamber." Really? He's been declared as the last criminal, and there isn't already a quorum? Sounds like there are more criminals than they thought...
- Oh hey, the judge is Darth Sidious.
- I never understood the cryogenic detainment. I don't think they do it because it's more humane; I think they do it in order to undo any "mistakes" should they come to that. This, to me, shows a pretty insecure judicial system.
- A million flying cars in the opening, and yet Time Force operates on the ground? At least the prison vehicle looks like Rodimus Prime.
- I'm impressed Nadira didn't break a nail when she slashed Trip and Katie.
- That explosion was so bad, Lucas was able to phase right through the door.
- You'd think the year 3000 would have stronger handcuffs.
- ...well, I was right about unemployment coming down the pike.
- Trip can read minds? That isn't a security breach?
- Now wait, if Ransik was the last criminal, who's this mohawk guy they're freezing? Clearly Ransik being "the last" was just military propaganda. Good to know some things haven't changed.
- Nadira punching Gluto after he pledged his loyalty? Okay, you're just a stuck-up teenager.
- Trip be trippin'. Being an alien means he gets the powers of plot-convenient clairvoyance.
- "Commandeer my vehicle? You're just the police." I guess clearing the streets of (almost) all criminals isn't enough for that douchebag.
- Okay, removing your femur is a bit much, but your spinal column? I know, suspension of disbelief, but that's a bit much.
- Oh, calm down, Jen. That explosion just means Alex will grow larger. Ignore Ransik pulling an Andross.
- And there goes the hand. Alex is dead. Clearly. With such little fanfare. We will never see him again.
- Try to be a little more invested in the theft of police equipment, chief.
- "Lucas can drive anything." I bet that won't be a plot point, seeing as that's his entire character so far.
- I love the Transwarp Megazord in all its non-Soundwave glory.
You know, people ragged on RPM for not feeling like Power Rangers or featuring the team in suit enough, but this premiere felt less like it. "Red Ranger" was uttered all of once, and these guys just feel like beat cops more than superheroes.
I don't see the hype so far. C+

I didn't realize TOQ-1 had already gotten through this season. If this feels redundant, close it.
