The Ranger War RP: Sign-up and discussion thread

Somewhere deep within the multiverse exists a world all tokusatsu heroes ever dreamt up are welcome to call their home. (Henceforth this world shall be known as Toku). The forces of evil tremble at the thought of a planet full to burst with thousands of metal heroes, power rangers, sentai senshi, canon and oc alike. Evil wouldn’t dare attack Planet Toku in its prime...



Would they?



Given the relative absence of natural evil on Toku, it’s heroes grew restless. On a continent populated largely by super sentai and power rangers, a curious sport has taken root. With no one to fight and no one to bring to justice, they have taken to fighting each other. Some treat it as a game of ratings, as entertainment for the civilian masses, while others treat it as all out blood-feud.



The Ranger War is in effect, pitting oc and canon, ranger and sentai alike against each other in the name of entertainment. And someone is orchestrating the whole bally thing, keeping track of ratings, scores and the results of battles, creating league tables, and even introducing the technique disk system for the storage, transference and free splicing of powers.



Anyone would think such a mysterious ‘someone’ actually wants the heroes to defeat each other…



That would leave Toku weak for invasion, wouldn’t it?

The rules are simple:

• This RP will be relatively mod-interference free. The focus is after all on interaction between characters, so it's up to you guys to take the story where you want it to go. I will offer guidance when asked for (call on for me for a ruling on the outcome of a fight for example), or release plot specific events and challenges as necessary though this thread, but I intend to play on the same level as you guys with my own OC.
  


• There are no all powerful rangers. No godmodding or power playing. This RP is all about character interaction, story-building and growing relationships in a world that may or may not be being manipulated from the ground up. First I will personally steer the thread away from the offending situation through roleplaying. Then, only if that doesn't work, will I start issuing warnings. It's as much up to you guys to police this as it is me.
  


• Each player gets to create 1 OC ranger (henceforth known as an Avatar). I don't mind who they are; age, gender, appearance, personal background, doesn't matter, just so long as they're OC and as 3D as you can possibly make them. We don't want any cardboard cut-outs now do we.
  


• In addition, each Avatar Ranger starts with 1 single technique disk that comes preloaded with any 1 power you wish. For example, my Avatar might have the MMPR Dragon Shield as his starting power, or Kira's sonic scream, or whatever else exists in both pr and ss. This "technique" can be used however and whenever the disk is loaded while in ranger form.
  


• Spicing is the common practice of hacking the technique system and permanently adding the power to your base form (anyone is allowed to do this with their disks, as long as you inform me and we can logically demonstrate the character would have such knowledge). As disks can only be used one at a time, splicing frees up said slot limit and allows for creative power stacking. It is however, like I said, permanent. Think wisely before splicing.
  


• The name of the game is to have fun, challenge each other to combat, see who's the strongest ranger, fight against canon rangers, bet technique disks on the out come of battles... or simply kick back with some much need character development and team building. The choice is yours (within reason).
  


• Any canon rangers you meet are AU (alternate universe). This mean they could be exactly like they were in their respective shows, they could be wildly different with only name remaining, hell, they could even be entirely different characters altogether wearing the suit. Again totally up to us as and when introduced. If anyone abuses this however I'm more than willing to take control of all "canon" interactions of this nature (same goes for any other abuse of the rules above).
  


• The only unlimited way to get more technique disks is to win them as the spoils of war, aka by winning fights, challenges, events, etc. There will be limited runs of special disks to be found when ever I feel like shaking things up and introducing them (and special disks aren't limited to PR or SS. That's right, you could end up with say... Zedd's staff!). Outside of this if you have an idea for a new disk for your Avatar pm me and we can discuss it's inclusion and then RP it out together.
