[MOVIE] Live Action Adaptions of Cartoons

I figured since a number of us are nostalgis and of course, we're not adverse to watching stuff for kids, in this case cartoons. I figured why not. The thread about being enjoys films critics dislike reminded me of this. And while I don't necessarily enjoy a lot of the films in question, I will watch them because like I said I'm nostalgia.

Basically, what I'm here to ask is why are all these adaptions so terrible. Now, please, regardless of your opinion, y'all out there who love going against the grain, I enjoy a few of these films myself but I am willing to acknowledge that there is a problem here. None of these films are critically acclaimed, I don't think any of these movies get positive reviews and I don't we shouldn't hold critics in such regard but seriously though. Why we can't just have one really good adaption of a cartoon that people like?

The Chipmunk movies are absolutely annoying.

The Smurf movies aren't that bad. I just wish the plots were different.

The Flinstone movies are really not good at all. Though I enjoy them.

Garfield movies are truly awful, a zit on the face of Bill Murray's career.

Underdog....:015:

I don't know much about Marmaduke but from what I can tell, people don't like it

I'd say Dragon Ball counts and that doesn't really help the situation, does it?

Speed Racer counts too and it's just a lackluster mess.

Did you guys know Yogi Bear got a movie? I was like Oh yeah. I completely forgot about that.

The Scooby Doo movies are the best out of this category. And that's really really not saying much.

And let's not forget, officially one of the worst movies of all time. A once respected director took one of the best cartoons of the new millennium turned into......I'm not even gonna get into it. You guys can address the film that I shall not name.

So why is this? Why can't they make a good live action adaption of a cartoon? I mean it works for comic books....usually.
