http://ift.tt/1vicnFM Remember Popples? They're getting their own series again. Netflix said Wednesday that it has partnered with Saban Brands on a new original show about the 1980s toy line, ordering 26 half-hour episodes that will be available for streaming in 2015. Introduced in 1985, Popples are brightly colored creatures who live in the world of Popplopolis and can transform from fluffy balls into furry friends. Each episode will focus on the characters Bubbles, Sunny, Lulu, Izzy and Yikes. Popples who are always trying to help their friends, neighbors and each other often find that their good intentions backfire in comedic ways, leading them to find new and crazy ways to undo the mayhem they've caused. Popples also were featured in a show that aired on Saturday mornings from 1986-88. Saban Brands is producing the new Popples series with ZAG Entertainment for Netflix. "Saban Brands has made history producing iconic and globally recognizable kids shows like Power Rangers, Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation and the new Julius Jr. series," said Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos. "We are excited to expand the relationship we enjoy together around the world with the launch of Popples as a new Netflix original series for kids." Added Haim Saban, chairman and CEO of Saban Capital Group and founder of Saban Brands: "We look forward to debuting this new Popples series to children around the world. Netflix continues to be a great strategic partner, delivering compelling content that kids can enjoy anywhere and everywhere. With the global reach of Netflix, we know Popples will reach a whole new generation of kids that will love it as much as their parents." |
My older brother actually tape traded for an episode of Popples. I liked it though I could see why it would be a bit saccarine.
I thought moreso about the Netflix part.
