As a child watching Power Rangers I kind of always had this mentality that Yellow Rangers were always sort of just there, in the background and filled the role of "the other girl". Now that I'm older, I realize two things.
1. The background ranger color of Power Rangers is in fact blue.
2. The only Yellow Ranger that came close to fitting that description is Aisha.
Sigh, poor Aisha. The ranger that never really had the chance to come into her own. Okay, while I do feel sorry for Aisha, she is a replacement and when it comes to MMPR, me no like replacements. So, I'll just be lazy and put my thoughts into points.
-When she came on to the series, it was now the "Tommy Oliver Show" and she left before Zeo, where the writers finally decided to give rangers who aren't Tommy some spotlight.
-Of the replacement rangers, Aisha had the most personality and had the best actor. But Rocky, Adam and Kat would go on to become veterans and far more developed characters in Zeo.
-She wasn't really "just there" but making her almost exactly like Kimberly did push her into the "other girl" thing. Rocky and Adam were pretty much clones of Tommy but again, both of them would become more than that in Zeo.
-Her departure was TERRIBLE!
-She had the shortest tenure of all the Mighty Morphin rangers.
-Trini and Tanya may have been pushed to the background alot but neither of them had it as bad as Aisha did.
-Trini was an intricate member of the team and her strong bonds with the other rangers pretty much solidified her place as the backbone.
-Tanya had the exact same amount of episodes as Aisha but used that time to have tremendous growth both as a person and as a ranger.
-She's the one of the only three rangers who's not an original member of any team. But Karone and Lauren both have bigger places in Power Rangers history.
-At least rangers like Lucas, Madison and Dax (Seriously, do the writers have something against Blue Rangers?) have a ranger title all to themselves. Aisha doesn't.
Within the first three season of MMPR, Aisha is at least the 7th best character of the series but in the grand scheme of Power Rangers, she tends to be overlooked and forgotten. And it's so sad to think that if she had simply stayed with rest of the cast, she'd probably have the same status as Adam. Basically my point is if I were Karan Ashley, I would be PISSED!
