I just recently download full series of Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger to rewatch (I already watched it 11 years ago, it was my first Super Sentai). And I have to say, it is amazing. While some people complains about the constant narration, I think it is ok, as it is perfect for a fairy tale.
And here is some comparison with Kyoryuger, the most similar series.
+Character developments: In Gaoranger, they have a lot of room for character developments. In Kyoryuger, they only care about King and his constantly-new-found powers.
+The monsters: While most monters of week of Gaoranger is stupid, they act like they are really stupid, unlike Kyoryuger's pretending to be stupid. Also, Org suit are very good, they don't look like plastic at all.
+Villain Bases: Org's Matrix looked exactly like a mystery big case, while Deboss' Frozen Castle looks like nothing.
+Rouki vs. Dogold: Rouki is well-makeup. His background songs and flute song are good too. Dogold's design is terrible, and I don't even know if he has any song at all.
+Power Animals vs. Zyudenryu: While most of Power Animals scenes simply were stock footages used again and again and again, it did have some level of realities. Meanwhile, Zyudenryu are too fake.
+Robots: The image says it all.
In short, low quality old-style serietts are way better than new series. :icon_fU:
