We all know that all of the previous Rangers are showing up for the Legend War/Mega War/Legendary Battle/whatever the hell it ends up being called, but only 10 actually have the actors themselves returning to reprise their roles. But, since it's the 20th anniversary, why don't we bump that number up to 20?
If you could bring 20 previous Rangers of your choosing back to be played by their original actors, who would they be and why? Please include explanation.
Also, for the sake of equality among eras (since one of my major complaints about the returning Rangers is it's pretty much all Saban Era) divide your list into 10 from the Saban Era/Neo Saban Era and 10 from the Disney Era. Tommy counts as Saban Era since that's when he originated. I'm not sure if Wild Force is officially part of the Saban or Disney Eras, but the Power Rangers wiki doesn't have the Wild Force Rangers categorized as Disney Era Rangers, so I'm going to call them Saban Era.
Finally, if a Ranger has used more than one set of powers, please specify which ones you'd have them assuming.
Here's my 20.
1. Tommy as MMPR Green
Reason: Yes, he's overexposed. Yes, he's considered by some to be overrated. But there's no denying the fact that Tommy as the Green Ranger is to many the most iconic Power Ranger and the character they instantly think of when you mention the show. Having a 20th anniversary without him just wouldn't feel right.
2. Jason as MMPR Red
Reason: The original Red Ranger. No other reason needed.
3. Billy
Reason: Not only was he one of the original 5, he was the longest-serving of the group and one of the Rangers who grew the most during his tenure. And given the circumstances of David Yost leaving the show, it would be great to see him back, not only for the chance for Saban to make amends, but also to give Billy the kind of sendoff he deserves.
4. Zhane
Reason: I like Zhane. His smug, confident personality made him my favorite of the Space Rangers. Aside from that, he's a member of the team that saved the universe from the United Alliance of Evil, which definitely deserves recognition since that was supposed to be the end of the show. Plus, he hasn't been seen or heard from since. He's long overdue for a comeback.
5. Kendrix
Reason: She was the first Ranger to die in the line of duty. Like the victory of the Space Rangers, this was a historic event in Power Rangers. We all know she somehow came back to life at the end of Lost Galaxy, but the sacrifice she was willing to make proved her bravery and dedication to the cause. She simply deserves to be honored with a reappearance.
6. Ryan
Reason: He was the first completely American-created Ranger. That deserves special recognition.
7. Wes
Reason: Wes is from my favorite season, and is, IMHO, the greatest Power Ranger. Time Force itself is a highly popular season, so it makes sense for it to have a representative.
8. Jen
Reason: Jen is a great Ranger, considered by some to be the best female Ranger in the history of the show. I also like to think that she stayed in the present after "Refinforcements from the Future" so she and Wes could be together. This would be a perfect opportunity to make it canon.
9. Taylor
Reason: Like Jen, Taylor is another great example of a tough female Ranger. She herself was also from a milestone season and has some pretty impressive credentials under her belt, since she was, as far as I know, the only Ranger to ever fight her season's enemies solo for an extended period of time.
10. Lauren
Reason: The first female Red Ranger who wasn't evil, and one of the best parts of Samurai. We saw far too little of her.
11. Dustin
Reason: I'll be honest, I don't really have a reason for Dustin other than he's fun. Let's face it, every big group needs at least one or two fun people. I suppose you could also make an argument from a historical perspective, what with him being the first male human Yellow Ranger.
12. Cam
Reason: I used to think Cam was overrated, but I've since realized not only was he the best of the Ninja Storm Rangers, but one of the best Rangers period. He deserves another appearance.
13. Trent
Reason: I felt like Dino Thunder needed a representative. Tommy was out because I already chose him as MMPR Green, and choosing Conner or Ethan would have meant there were two Rangers of the same color with the same dinosaur in the group, and I thought that would be redundant and kind of stupid. Kira already returned for the 15th anniversary. That left Trent, and while I don't remember much about him or Dino Thunder in general, I do think his story is cool, with his being possessed by the gem, his artistic endeavors, and having to keep his father's secret from the others. Plus it would be cool to see him fighting side-by-side with Tommy as the MMPR Green Ranger, given that both were originally evil before becoming good and it would let him have a glimpse into Tommy's past. There could be some fun there.
14. Z
Reason: I thought Z was a great character and Ranger. Plus the group needs more female Rangers who weren't the Pink Ranger, so far Lauren and Taylor have been the only ones.
15. Doggie
Reason: Doggie was a great mentor and Ranger, as well as an all-around badass character. It would be good to see him again. Also, hey look, an alien!
16. Vida
Reason: I like Vida. And this is my list.
17. RJ
Reason: RJ was another fun character like Dustin, but also a great mentor and Ranger like Doggie. He's also the show's only Purple Ranger to date.
18. Lily
Reason: Much like Z, I simply like Lily and feel like she's a great character. It also gives us another female Ranger who's not wearing pink.
19. Scott
Reason: He was the leader of the Ranger team that protected the last remnants of humanity from extinction. I think he's more than qualified to help stop an invading alien armada. Plus it was disappointing seeing him only in his suit in Clash of the Red Rangers.
20. Ziggy
Reason: I thought Ziggy was a fun, well-developed character. There's also the potential for some humor by playing his personality against one of the more serious Rangers, such as Jason, Scott, or Taylor. Also, shadow puppets.
