So recently I bought a broken CosJoy Sword of Darkness off my buddy. Figured since I do make props I could fix it up. What surprised me is what the thing is made of.
Here is this listing:
http://ift.tt/Ogtnww
Material: PVC
Here are the pics of mine, and my findings about the mats they used to make it.
The main material is sheet insulation foam. The pink or blue stuff you buy from HomeDepot or lows for $12 for a 12 foot x 3 foot sheet. That measurement may be a little short.
The black parts of the sword is sheet plastic. The same kind that "For Sale" signs are made from.
The silver designs are painted hot glue.
It is also very easy to tell that it was cut using a CNC machine or a hot wire.
After pulling off one of the black areas, I can tell it is a for sale sign that has been painted and gel superglued down.
At first, I thought that it was atleast coated in something before getting painted, but I was wrong. pressed my nail against it, and it gave
I have used these same techniques to make stuff like my, never finished because I keep forgetting to do so, GokaiSabre
Other than paint, I see no coating. On the sides, you can feel the texture of the foam. only the broad sides broad sides feel really smooth
With everything here, I could remake this sword for about $10-$15 bucks and a weekend off work.
All I can really say, is that it is nowhere near worth the $150 price tag
