[POWER RANGERS] What's Gosei's motivation here?

I've brought this up in episode discussion threads before, but I feel it's important enough to warrant its own thread. We know that the Warstar/Mutants/Seavrak 2021 and even the (Planet or Fearful Adjective) Armada all have base motivations. Even if it's something like "Take over the world". I can go with that. Some people just have big heads.

That's where my problem lies.

Why is Gosei invested in this conflict at all?

We know he awoke and did the Zordon thing by forcibly abducting the main characters, but Zordon gave his reason right at the start. He personally trapped Rita in the dumpster, and she's out for revenge. In the following seasons, it was people following in the footsteps of Rita and her extended family for reasons of conquest, and eventually they were all retconned into one big group.

Captain Mitchell had personal history with the demons, and was part of a group established for this specific task. Terra Venture had a MacGuffin. Hartford is just perverted. Ninja Storm and Mystic Force had prophecies and ancient scrolls. Every season has gone out of its way to establish some sort of stakes for why the good guys get involved.

Gosei has none of that. "My mentor Zordon" was barely elaborated on, and since Zordon is dead and Gosei isn't telling, there's not enough to even imply that Zordon was prepared for these enemies. Does he have a history with Vrak? Is he trying to protect some precious resource? Hell, I'd even accept if it's because he's been hoarding the Ranger Keys in his storage unit, and that's a whole different round of unexplained questions in itself.

The time to explain these things was at the start of the front half of the show, and as soon as things got rolling in the back half, there's nothing to hint he will then, either. Not when there's fight scenes to burn. We've already discussed how they dropped the ball on Troy's prophetic dreams several times during regular Megaforce, but to me, this is just as pressing an issue.

Gosei barely cares for his Rangers during their present adventures, so why did he pull them into it in the first place? This is a part of the foundation of the series that's missing, and I want to know if anybody who's seen the series in a different light than I have has puzzled out why.
